I want to get a full understanding of their appearance change ability.
1- can they create a completely new person. Like the ability says they cant duplicate a creature they have not seen but can they create an entire new person ?
2- Will they be able to duplicate a person from a sketch/painting?
3- Does duplicate ability put tatooes, scars or birth marks even if you have not seen them ?
4- Can they duplicate injured people and healed versions of them ? Can they hide injuries if they are injured by slashes or other forms of injury ?
I think these are all things I can off right now, if you know any tips or tricks on how to play them as a player or as a DM itll be very nice if you share them.

Born under the watch of something from the furthest corners of the far realms.... It knows all.... it sees all... and it asks: "What is it that you want to see?"... and my answer is... ALL"
1. "You can’t duplicate the appearance of a creature you’ve never see", but "You decide what you look like, including your height, weight, facial features, the sound of your voice, coloration, hair length, sex, and any other distinguishing characteristics.". So yeah, you can.
2. Sort of, no way it'd be totally accurate. Varying degrees of success rate based on how god the painting was I guess.
3. Yes, you decide distinguishing characteristics. Again if you're dupicating someones marks, it's better to have seen them first.
4. Yes. "You decide what you look like". Even simple disguise self could do this, to get around the lack of ability to soundlike the peron without actor feat or that level 3 mastermind rogue ability.
Get glamoured studded leather ASAP, and have your clothing/armor change with you.
3. To be more clear, if you are duplicating someone, obviously you can't create convincing details you don't know about. A man might have a mole behind his ear that only his wife might have noticed. This could cause you to be found out if you too, hadn't noticed this detail while taking his form.
