I am doing a misfit adventure of odd races and classes and it seems to be catching on. I have a player who want to play drow, but they want to use the worst class possible.
Unfortunately Drow (and elves in general) are fairly well balanced, so they're not ill-suited for any class, really. I think they're generally seen as more lithe and dexterous, so being a strength-based barbarian is at least really uncommon. Drow are also generally played a bit.. dark and mysterious, so playing a Drow as a lighthearted bard would probably stand out as unusual. Plus playing a Drow in an above-ground campaign is always a little off, because of the whole Disadvantage in Direct Sunlight thing.

Any suggestions?
Drow Ranger- beast master- favored terrain grasslands and desert and coastal. (Sunny places)
Any caster class with save-based spells that aren't penalized by disadvantage (from sunlight sensitivity) are good choices for drow. A martial attack-based class is probably their weakest if the campaign is above ground; rogues have a lot invested in hitting with a single attack per round, so that's tough, but a strength based barbarian also doesn't get a ton of attacks and has the added penalty of not really wanting the Drow's stat array.
