I like to RP my characters as fashionable when they are in town. I will tell the DM I am buying white loose fitting shirts, colored vests, jackets, well made boots that come up below the knee, a wide brimmed hat, sometimes with a plume, a broad black belt with a silver buckle, breaches that come below the knee, and functional but decorative pouches for my money and small stuff. This is generally the description of a suit for my character, although with a little more flair.
Knights and other important nobles might wear fine clothes and a great coat, fine shoes with metal buckles and all that.
If you want a real devil in a modern suit, just treat him as a little bit eccentric wizard, and leave it at that. I would imagine your setting has dealt with a number of eccentric wizards, right?
