Never was it stated to be a battle royale, it was explicitly stated to be a 7 player party vs 30 ancient dragons vs 10 tarrasques. How did you even come to that conclusion?
How did you not? It's just a giant hodgepot of dragons of all alignments, a pile of tarrasques, and 7 level 20 guys and gals. There's nothing in the description to hint that this is not a last man standing kind of event.
Anyways, it's also in my post that I'm assuming it's a battle royale. Also, confirmed by now.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

The dragons still win by a long shot, how profoundly mad do you have to be to not work with others of your kind when a literal world ending threat is in front of your faces. Sure the dragons may rip each other limb from limb, but not without just murdering everything else first.
By that logic, the adventurers are going to kill each other because of the possibility of there being evil characters in said party. The selfish rogue will absolutely avoid fighting at all against anything due to the fact that the moment he hits a single dragon, he’s in range of possibly several breath attacks.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make another unsubstantiated claim: The 7 PC's are an established party, and will be working together - just like each batch of dragons will work with, at least, others of their colorcoded alignment bracket, and quite possibly the chromatic vs the metallic. Tarrasques die first, then whatever group of dragons you like, then the other group of dragons as the adventurers pop out and clean up.
Honestly, I think my idea of using wish to cast Tiny Hut is nothing short of brilliant.

The dragons are going to go after each other. So you will have a huge aerial fight going on. That just leaves the tarraques and characters on the ground. Assuming the characters are of a reasonable level to be equivalent force in the fight, they will take the tarraque on one at a time. Likely thinking of ways to turn them upon each other. So in the end, you have 5 wounded characters vs a wounded dragon of some type.
So in the end, you have 5 wounded characters vs a wounded dragon of some type.
There are three ancient dragon of each type, not to mention that the metallic dragons are far less likely to turn on one another, making the chances of there being multiple dragons quite high. If something like a silver dragon manages to survive, the party is going to get stun locked if they stay too close to one another.
Stage 1: PC's disappear into Tiny Hut (yea, I'm sticking with that). Dragons all take to the air. Tarrasques may or may not fight each other - that's not important.
Stage 2: Tarrasques die in an absolute hellstorm of breathweapons. Dragons look at each other, pondering. Except the whites, too dumb and aggressive ponder much of anything. They attack, thinking something along the lines of 'a good offence ..' and nothing more.
Stage 3: Mass scale havoc, as all dragons tear into each other.
Stage 4: The dragon fight ends. I'm predicting maybe two gold dragons are still standing - no one else.
Stage 5: PC's emerge from Tiny Hut. They've spent as many rounds as they like buffing, drinking potions, activating items. The fight is brief, and the players win handily.
Stage 6: PC's complain that they just killed 30 dragons and got not a single dragon hoard.

The only major problems are that it’s damn near impossible for them to win initiative and that more than half of ancient dragons have 4th level or above spells they can use through the Tiny Hut. All of them are as listed:
Depending on your rules interpretations, their aoe attacks could even go through (dubiously). The bigger question is what environment are they going to fight in? A flat plain is a bit of a disservice to a dragon, tarrasque or any type of party.
Wouldn't you know it? I've never read the 2024 rules - including the new version of Tiny Hut.
It doesn't matter. You really think that pittance of largely irrelevant spells are worse than not having the hut and needing to deal with everything else that's going on? No, we'll just power through those spells, if some random dragon decides that's the priority.
Edit: Oh, and since it's a Battle Royale, I'm guessing it's a cage match. Big cage, mind you, propably some sort of pocket dimension. But still: It's a cage match.

You are right that tiny hut is probably the right move against instantaneous death, but the deal with those spells is that they are still capable of hurting the party. Which is a bit of a problem considering most powerful spells require concentration.
What the spells do isn’t to kill the party, it’s to sap their resources and prevent any concentration spell from lasting, whether that is successful is dependent on the build of the players themselves. The black dragons would probably have the most incentive to harass the party, considering their sadistic nature and access to acid spells, which are pretty effective at knocking out concentration.
