I’m currently creating a tiefling Fiend-pact tomelock, and was wondering which demonic patron would be most suited for him, given his backstory.
Basically, my guy was an insatiable scholar who sold his soul to a demon in exchange for extensive knowledge regarding the Nine Hell's darkest secrets. Unfortunately, his soon-to-be patron was in a particularly sadistic mood at the time - being a demon and all - and, rather than give a lecture on the subject, decided to forcibly upload the entirety of Hell's secrets into my guy's brain, breaking his mind in the process and driving him mad. Think Spalko's death in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
My question is this:
Which Fiend patron would be most likely to pull a scam like the one mentioned above? The handbooks only contain so much information about each, and I was hoping to get some input from a veteran player.

This is important to know as a Fiend Warlock: Devils (Lawful Evil, live primarily in Hell) and Demons (Chaotic Evil, live primarily in the Abyss) are not the same thing. In fact they are engaged in the longest running war in D&D Lore, the Blood War. There's also Yugoloths (Neutral Evil) and other things that your DM can count for a Fiend Patron, such as Evil Deities. Make sure you know which category your actually going with. Also your patron doesn't have to be at the level of Archdevil or Demon Prince, you or your DM could make one up.
If your going with an Archdevil, the most logical choice in my opinion is Glasya. She would likely do so to have you specifically use that knowledge to exploit the pact system or some other system of hell for her benefit. Dispater is also a possibility, as he tends to trade secrets for souls, but that mentioned event doesn't seem like something he would do.
If your going with a Demon Prince, the most logical choice in my opinion is Fraz-Urb'luu. Fraz-Urb'luu is all about deception, he does know a lot and claims to be the smartest entity, but he tends to lie, mislead, and otherwise be cryptic as well.
If you’re good with entities from older editions, Abraxas the demon lord also fits in well: he deals (dealt?) with knowledge and arcane secrets (meaning he would be more likely to have that knowledge than Fraz), but is still a demon lord with his own sadistic agenda.
Taking a different tack, consider Juiblex. A towering blob of gelatinous poison with baleful eyes everywhere. While not particularly known as a deceiver, it's a demon lord, so deception is definitely still one of its tools. How many mortals could look into the mind of a creature so ancient, powerful and obviously on a whole different wavelength and NOT be mentally stunned? Juiblex is the gibbering mouther of demon lords.
