The backstory I made for my character in Rime of the Frostmaiden. Eddard "Ned" Thann - A human tempest cleric of Valkur who received the Alagondar Scion Character Secret. Feel free to post your own backstories you created to mesh with the Icewind Dale Character Secrets.
*** Alagondar Scion (Prerequisite: You must be a human, half-elf, or half-orc to have this secret) - Assuming current year is 1489 DR like the book suggests - I’m a scion of the Alagondar bloodline and the only known heir to the crown of Neverwinter. If Dagult Neverember, the city’s lord-regent, learns that I’m alive, he’ll send assassins to kill me. ***
Before you were even born, the city of Neverwinter perished in a great conflagration that slew its people and scattered survivors across the north. Since then, the angry mountain has calmed, inviting people to return to the ruins of this once-great settlement. Dagult Neverember—the former Open Lord of Waterdeep—has declared himself a distant relation of the old rulers of Neverwinter, and thus claims to be the rightful heir to their holdings. He has installed himself as Neverwinter’s Lord Protector until the city is rebuilt and order is fully restored—at which point he is expected by many to name himself a king. Given Neverember’s control of Neverwinter and the military and magical power that control grants him, few have expressed any desire to dispute his claim—at least not until a true heir is found. A true heir such as you. But a warning, many who claim to be true heirs to the crown of Neverwinter were put to the sword by Dagult Neverember, who would not suffer the presence of a bothersome claimant to his "rightful throne".
You are a last scion of Neverwinter’s former ruling family. Your grandmother was a noble who fled the city during the cataclysm (1451 DR). Badly wounded during her escape and driven to madness by pain and grief. When she perished shortly after, your mother was born (1451 DR). A noble family of Waterdeep—the Thann Family—took her in and raised her as their own. Eventually she grew up and on an expedition to Icewind Dale when she was 18, she met and fell in love with a Reghed Barbarian "Prince" Jarund Twice-Born (died 1482 DR). You were born (1471 DR) and your father died from a bear attack when you were 11. Growing up, you spent most of the year in "Waterdeep" learning heroic stories, poetry, and getting the best education a young noble could have. But, during the summer months your family traveled to Icewind Dale where you roamed the tundra with your fathers Tribe of the Elk. There you learned survival and combat training as well as the history of your Reghedmen heritage. These skills served you well as you joined the Waterdeep City Guard in the Griffon Cavalry.
With Neverwinter in recovery and your mother's kin all dead, your family thought it best to hide from you their knowledge of your tragic family past. However, on a training demonstration in Neverwinter when a crew mate accidentally ran afoul of the ghosts of the Neverwinter Nine. You stepped in to aid your friend to find that the ghosts stopped and kneeled before you. Elminster himself interviened and whisked you away before any of Neverember's agents could attempt to do so. Elminster explained that the ghosts would only kneel before a true heir of the Alagondar bloodline. Your mother had you return to Waterdeep where you have finally been told the truth. At first, you weren’t certain what to do. In one moment, it felt as though you had lost two families— the old and the new. You had never seen Neverwinter before, but what you had heard of the city didn’t make it seem like a place worth claiming. If you ignored your birthright, you could continue to live a life of relative ease and luxury in Waterdeep. Although Lord Neverember is sure to send someone or something to eliminate you for your claim to the Crown of Neverwinter if you don't.
For now your family has tasked you with starting a new business venture in Ten Towns. An elaborate cover to whisk you away from Neverember's agents. No better place for someone to disappear and to have ample time and isolation to plan for the future. Plus the proximity to your fathers barbarian tribe should offer some protection if needed. There are fewer places safer than behind the protection of an entire tribe of Battle Hardened Barbarian Warriors.
Using Secrets: Alagondar Scion. At some point, Lord Dagult Neverember might send a lone assassin—a nameless, middle-aged woman with a shaved head and a hook for a right hand—to kill the character who has this secret.
