I was thinking, since we both like duergar, why not come up with a setting for duergar? You know, like a fortress or citadel or something along the lines of that. Just an idea, let me know.

That would be interesting. Could even be a dark take on "The Hobbit". Think Thorin's company but they're all Duergar.

what do ye need for ye duel AlexandraMelianne and TieflingsRule?
i've got 2 similar ideas but could be done in different situations for the setting, what happened or where they are, just something to put for both of ye as ive had these ideas for a while but unsure how to make a backstory for either of them.
1: Goliath, Berserker Barbarian, Borg Grad, has been thawed out of a giant ice block and cant remember much other then "Must hunt big thing, self become bigger"
2: Mountain Dwarf, Forge Cleric, Dune Stone, has been awakened from petrification and has scars/cracks all over his body thanks to being set in stone for unknown years and seems to have a knack for smithing.
Good luck if you choose to accept the task at hand.
What my character knows: I never know my parents and I was raised by some poor woman. She taught me how to be a good person. When I was growing up, I try to be a cleric I my local temple. But they refuse me because of my nature. In despair I call for someone, some high power and Lord Bal'gamug (made it up) answered. He offered me a contract. For every good deed He will give me more power. There were 20 deeds in contract (for every level one good deed. DM can to decide what those deeds are).
What my character doesn’t know: Bal’gamug was Dispater’s general who tries to kill him and take his place. But he failed and Dispater decided to punish him with forced contract with my character. Devils despise good and because of that every time I do something good in Bal’gamug name, my character gives more cause for mockery and all Hell laughs at him. And also what additionally makes this contract the worst contract in history of Hell it’s that does not require soul in return, just good deeds for power. Contract offered me Dispater in disguise. Bal’gamug is furious because he is in jail and can’t do anything. Only way to break this contract is to kill him. Every time I get in touch with Lord Bal’gamug is instead Dispater in disguise who asks of me to do good deeds.
So all I want is to do good deeds and pleased my Lord Bal’gamug. My appearance is intimidating (you know devilish look and deep devilish voice) but I don’t try to bee. Instead I trying to be polite, kind, self-sacrificing, put others' needs ahead of my own and so on.
Debuyarou i like the idea of a fiend contract bent to the goodness of the world as a form of punishment to the demon, this is the first time of me hearing this concept and i love it to bits.
The scenarios that would happen for both parties, people questioning why a tiefling is saying a fiends name for everything good they achieve which i believe would turn some heads 90 degrees and on the other being a fiend in their own hell of being made fun of for granting power to someone doing a good deed in their name and the shame of having to do it as punishment, nice touch.
Awesome work and creative use of the pact, props to ya
Before I get started on this not-competition with AlexandraMelianne, who has some awesome backstories, I figured I'd break the norm and share one of my proudest creations, which is not a character, but the great dwarven halls of Dismru'un. I apologize in advance for all weird or wacky spelling, this popped into my head one day, and I decided it worked perfectly.
The Halls of Dismru'un. Forged in the core of the great mountain peak known as Omdohr's Spear, the dwarven god of war, the dwarves of Dismru'un are always hard at work, prying gems and precious metals from the walls of their mountain. The primary mining section, Edohr's Well, is where most of the dwarves mine and toil, searching for hidden wealth. Loose stone and rock plummet to the bottom of this chasm, fueling the Dragonfire forges. These forges are manned by summoned azers, the only ones that can withstand the intense heat of these mechanical wonders. A Forgemaster, the recent one being Mistsyl Goldsoul, oversees production around the forges, inspecting all the gear produced from them for the smallest imperfections. Forgemasters are responsible for all things craft-related and must have a keen eye for detail.
Orecaptains command the legions of miners responsible for bringing in a king's hoard worth of valuables. They look after the other miners and their safety. Orecaptains also are the ones searching for rich veins of mithril or gold, leading others to the bounty. However, the single greatest role in all of Dismru'un is the powerful and mighty Hammerking. The Hammerking rules over Dismru'un, overseeing all that goes on in their home. A dragon's skeleton looms over the dwarf throne, braziers of fire burning in its eyes. The current king is the Hammerking Thurdan Daermin. He deals with politics and trade with other factions, but also holds incredible power. If the halls of Dismru'un are ever under dire threat from enemies, the Hammerking has the power to speak a dwarven phrase and collapse the halls on itself, denying the enemy of all within the mountain home. The phrase goes as follows:
With my words shall the mountain quake; with this command shall these halls shake. My enemies will be denied, everything they seek inside. This home will not go to any other than kin, and none but dwarf shall be let in.
Hardly anyone but dwarf-folk enter or lay eyes on the Halls of Dismru'un. The dwarves aren't keen on the idea of any outsiders being in their home, and even those with political means of entry never feel truly welcome. The dwarves of Dismru'un have a deal with the stone giants that live on Omdohr's Peak, vowing to never attack one another or bear any ill will. The stone giants also escort visitors to Dismru'un through its secret tunnels and passageways to the dwarven halls. Those select few that have laid eyes on Dismru'un claim it is a sight they will never forget.
I'd love feedback on this! Every little bit helps!
I have several characters, most of them I haven't used yet, but the one I have used most is a silver Dragonborn sorcerer named Pridorim. He's currently 9th level in the Curse of Strahd campaign. He comes from a far off valley called the Dragon Glade, and it's currently ruled by a tyrannical ancient black dragon named Zusaress. When Pridorim was young, his father was involved in a rebellion against the dragon and his black dragonborn army, the Dark Death. The rebellion was defeated by Zusaress, and he hoped that any thought of a rebellion would then be quenched. Years later, after Pridorim had grown quite a bit, he led a rebellion himself, and successfully fended off the Dark Death. The success of Pridorim's resistance enraged Zusaress, who threatened to destroy him and his entire village, so he fled to spare them. In the process, he believed he dishonored his clan by abandoning them and cowering.
He planned to grow in power in his absence and then return, face Zusaress, and hopefully defeat him and free the Glade from his oppression. Currently though, he's encountering enough trouble with werewolves, twig blights, and vampires, so we'll see how he fares against a black dragon!

Dune Stone. A renowned dwarven cleric dedicated to the forge and a respectable blacksmith. Dune is like most dwarves, hardworking and physically sturdy, but the scars on his body tell a different story.
Dune Stone was born in the dwarven kingdom of Stonewall City. His mother and father, renowned blacksmiths, began teaching Dune from an early age the tools of their craft. Dune, having been born of two exceptional smithy parents, showed unnatural talent. Most dwarves Dune's age barely learned how to hold a hammer, but Dune wasn't most dwarves. He quickly rose the ranks, crafting armor and weapons for the dwarves of exceptional quality. The wealth of the dwarves soared, and Stonewall City prospered. Trades with other races brought new and untold riches to the dwarven kingdom.
As their wealth increased, monsters took notice. Greed began directing dozens of monsters, all stronger than the previous, to Stonewall City. The dwarves, thanks to their mighty soldiers and defenses, warded off the attacks. A raiding party was formed to try and strike at monsters before they could make it to their kingdom. Dune wanted nothing more than to aid his people, so he volunteered to go along. With warm wishes and blessings of clerics, Dune and his squad, the Stone's Fist, set out. For several weeks, the party was successful in bringing down all kinds of monsters. Basilisks, dragons, devils, and demons all fell to the Stone's Fist.
The day came, though, when success has to end. A pit fiend, escorted by dozens of devils of all kinds, marched on Stonewall City. Dune and his group once more rushed to bring the monsters down, but the pit fiend was prepared. The Stone's Fist quickly began to fall. Dune, weighing his options, told his fellow brothers and sisters to flee. The dwarf stood alone against a terrible horde, and he refused to fall. The cleric fought against terrible odds, suffering grievous injuries until all that remained was the pit fiend.
"You have my respect, little dwarf," the pit fiend growled to Dune. "You will die more courageous than most others. For that, I condemn you to a life of stone instead of ending you." The pit fiend wrought a curse upon Dune, petrifying him. The last words to leave the dwarf's lips were a prayer of banishment before he transformed fully to stone. For years, Dune was hailed as a hero by his people, none of whom knew of his fate, but honored him nonetheless. However, Dune Stone's story was not finished. After decades, his god stripped away the curse. Small scratches and gouges covered Dune's body, remnants and reminders of his past life. Dune wanted nothing more than to return home, but his god required service from the cleric in return for the opportunity to be reunited with his family.
Dune Stone is a hard worker and a loyal friend. He shows genuine care to those in need and helps where he can. His motivation? See his people again.
