Ah, that makes sense. I only know because I played a GOOlock once... I was playing as a Kenku and the telepathy was my workaround for the language challenge, so I'm pretty familiar with how it works, mechanically. In the same vein, I'd recommend switching to Telekinetic instead... similar feat, but it lets you cast an invisible magehand (which functionally is just kind of like having The Force), but it gives you a really sweet bonus action psychic push you can make, which works great for a Warlock since it gives you something useful to use your bonus action on every turn just in case you've already got someone hexed or whatever.
I second Telekinetic, but Shadow-Touched is also appropriate given your backstory. Both have elements that can help fill in your character’s backstory after the massacre. For example, TK could have been useful for a craft or for pick pocketing. Similarly, Invisibility from Shadow Touched might have made you an unusually good scout for monster hunters or a successful burglar.
Oh, really? I didn't know about that. That'd be useful indeed. Another Feat I thought of taking was Magic Initiate for warlocks, granting me another spell to learn and two more cantrips. I'll check with my DM to see which one he likes better.
