Well, I've always been fascinated by both monsters, because of how disgusting they are and how they both have larvae/worms. The Spawn of Kyuss, in particular, has that hability to create "zombies" closer to the movies fantasy, which is also nice. So, I've always enjoied the idea of a Star Spawn Larva Mage like character with such an hability to creat undead under their control, but I could never solve the problem of the race... but now we've got plasmoids!
Why plasmoids are interesting, you might ask. First of all, in my view, a Larva Mage like creature would have an amorphous body. Ta-da! Voilà the plasmoid. Actually, this reason is good enough for me. But, with it, we can also get a bonus action "mage hand" for small distances - basically an amount of larvae that grows out of our "body" - and resistance to poison and acid - which will later add to the necrotic resistance of the... wait for it.. necromancer.
Yes, necromancer, of course. The idea is to create undead under our control, afetr all. With the necromancer, we can flavor some of the spells to be some sort of atack made by the larvae - for example, finger of death could be simply larvae being thrown to the enemy. The larvae could enter the body of the dead, as the animate dead spell, and assume control of them, since the larvae ar part of us - but if we do not keep putting new larvae, it becomes hostile, i.e., after every 24h, we need to recast the spell. The command undead hability would be the same thing: our larvae entering the undead's body and trying to assume control over them.
One could ask "but a creature made of larvae could not have a ooze creature type", which I would agree, but being an ooze basically doesn't change anything. As far as I know, there are no spells or magical effect that are specially directed to ooze. On the other hand, an ooze wouldn't be effected by a hold person spell, for example, but an aberration wouldn't either, etc. In other words, I think we could easily say we are an aberration, or something, without winning or losing anything.
I think this would be weird, disgusting, scary and, most of all, fun! What do you guys think of that?
