The horror of DMs being expected to put in a modicum of legwork to keep a campaign running smoothly! Seriously, if sitting down and having a half hour conversation with a player about being prepared so they don't hold up the whole session is too much work for someone, I'd honestly say that's on them not the system.
Also, regarding the pool sizes, have you actually checked them out? For Conjure Fey, there's less than 20 blocks with a CR between 6 and 9; Elementals are slightly larger, in part because of the quadruplication effect of "earth/water/fire/air X". These are not insurmountable numbers for people to sort through in their personal time between games. I've said that cutting out the multi summons is probably a good idea; if you just stick with Conjure Elemental, Conjure Fey, Conjure Celestial, Summon Greater Demon, and Infernal Calling you are not flooding the board, nor are most players going to be looking at anything but near max CR options, which is at least as easy for them to sort through on their own time as Wildshape options on a Moon Druid.
They shouldn't have to "surmount numbers" to be a damn summoner. Nor should players be expected to dive through DM-facing material, however few eligible/non-trap statblocks there are upon doing so. The Tasha design is the right way to go.
The Tasha design is a valid option, but that doesn't mean you should cut off people who want something more than a single generic block with slight variations and no risk when they summon something. There is literally no reason the two can't coexist.
Welp... there goes conjuration. Now they are just reskinned versions of Spirit Guardians and Spirit Shroud - PS what's with Conjure Elemental creating a pseudo-gelatinous cube?
I don't think these are necessarily pushing in the wrong direction. The former "conjure" spells were not great for the game. I think moving towards treated summons like environmental features is a good attempt to speed up the conjurer archetype in combat. I am a little disappointed that they didn't make a new conjuration spell to make an undead swarm, but that wouldn't be really appropriate for a base druid.
You only need to change the word "beast" to "undead" in the Conjure Animals spell and it works literally exactly the same as a swarm of undead. Sure it is absolutely faster in combat, but it's also completely uninteresting. I have already had players describe their Spirit Guardians as a swarm of bees, or their Entangle as a swarm of snakes, or their Magic Missile as a swarm of birds.
It feels very video-game-y to me. Which is fine if that's what people want, but personally if I want to play a videogame I play a videogame. The main reason I started playing D&D instead of videogames in the first place was that I could "break the rules" - I could do creative and interesting things that weren't preprogrammed by the developer.
Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but did Warlock "pass" the UA phase and move on? Is that why it isn't part of this UA?
My suspicion is that with so little time left, they don't want to spark a new controversy with the warlock. The warlock is undoubtedly the most controversial class, and the one that arouses the most conflicting opinions. So I suspect that they are going to leave the warlock for his internal playtest.

Also according to their survey response information they shared. Yes the warlock did mostly "Pass" its UA. They revealed the scores and the base warlock was well above 70. The Archfey was, unfortunately, nearly 90% so I suspect we will get it pretty near exact even though I personally did not care for their level 14 portion of their features.

How divided it is here/on other boards among a few vocal posters you mean. Message boards, in all forms, probably only get posts from less than 1% of the overall community that is self selecting themselves and is much more likely to complain.

fey patron showed what a subclass could be, but the updated fiend and goo patrons were the previous bars for good subclasses. their numbers were really good at the time and no one stopped to ask if they remained 'approved' after fey patron. so that's 1, 2, 3 subclasses... and the fourth was earmarked as celestial. that one wasn't touched aside from the free patron spells now always prepared (a general improvement to every subclass), but also wasn't disapproved. you aren't wrong to think that they could have done more. they could have revisited celestial with the 'misty step' treatment... but with what spell?? mirror image? calm emotions? crown of madness? spiritual weapon?? it would take some time to figure out. time they didn't have.
even more importantly, i feel like fey patron hit it out of the park so well for enough people that it buoyed base-class approval. even if they did catch on to a false bump, there's not enough room in the almighty schedule. it's just so much easier to be on budget and on time with old-but-good numbers right before end of year evaluations (and bonuses). no sense in cramming a two- or three-cycle project into one cycle.

There is a reason, the reason Crawford gave. They don't want players to feel like they need to book dive through DM-facing material when they use their features. You can still easily enable this at your table if you want - just create "Invoke Animals" or something that uses the old conjure text.

The level 14 ability doesn't look like much until you remember that it builds on all the others. So not only are you getting a free actionless Misty Step whenever you cast any other enchantment or illusion with your action (i.e. two leveled spells in the same turn), but doing so triggers the riders in Steps of the Fey/Misty Escape, and all of those still leave your bonus action available for something else entirely, e.g. a racial or feat.

My suspicion is things they did not specifically give a number to were probably low to mid 70s. They will let you know when something gets a 89 etc. And IIRC that range still means they plan to work on it. Maybe not with a public play test but the changes will be noticeable. The Feylock probably will be almost entirely unchanged, maybe they will clean up the wording of something it it is deemed unclear.

It isn't about the stength of the 14th level feature. It is that it doesn't add enough different. You are misty stepping a lot already I didn't feel the need for more steps.

I mean, you have to remember that this is a Warlock; Misty Step is a luxury for them as you generally have waaaay better things to be doing with your pact slots, especially by 14th level. So a subclass based around getting free Misty Steps is actually pretty out of the ordinary for them, especially when those MS are also doing other things besides blinking you around, and should still be feeling special even by the time you hit 14. Freeing up your BA at that point means you get to combine all the stuff this subclass does with things like firing your Crown of Stars etc.

Again I get that, it isn't about power. It is about not enough flavor. I have 5 free misty steps already at this point and have been doing a lot of teleporting as is. Being able to teleport without a bonus action or a reaction is nice sure, but I personally preferred the once per short rest illusory realm from a thematic standpoint. Having the ability to plunge someone into a waking dream or nightmare that I shape was really cool to me from a narrative standpoint. That is what I miss, I love the misty steps early, because of the mechanical strength, but later I want something that expands past that. Something that is mechanically strong and flavorful as well. (Personally there is a selfish part of me that hopes that while the subclass got a 89 that this one single feature got like a 78 while all the others were in the 90's as a clear sign of THIS is where you could get that 1% increase)

Sorry I meant to reply to this directly and the stupid text editor on this forum ate my reply. I went back to the survey video and Crawford did indeed confirm that Warlock is done in UA.
"People are going to see the base Barbarian along with {the Path of the World Tree} subclass come back out in Unearthed Arcana along with the Monk and the Druid. So right now, in a game that has 12 classes, 9 of them - or rather, a core book that has 12 classes, never forget the Artificer! - 9 of them now are moving forward in our internal game dev, with just the Druid, Monk, and Barbarian needing another visit to Unearthed Arcana."
Warlock is part of the 9, so it's done being publicly playtested. This was followed by this reminder from Chris Perkins:
"And I know Jeremy has said this a hundred times, but the UA process, the way it's built is, everything you see in UA is, "trial balloons" - and so, when the Player's Handbook comes out again in 2024, that will really be for many people, their first chance to see these elements in their final form, and we're going to be making little tiny *series of button-pressing noises* tweaks right up until the books are no longer in our hands."

Flavorful I'll give you, kind of... but I don't blame them for scrapping Dark Delirium. One target Charmed and Frightened of one PC (you) for one minute, using your concentration, and I guess maybe they're also blinded with regards to everyone else though it doesn't actually say that so we can expect fun table arguments whee! I don't begrudge you for liking it but I can also see why they didn't bother trying to iterate on it and just go in a different direction.
Again though, I know you find Bewitching Magic to not be very flavorful, but to me it's fantastic - not just power-wise, but the fact that this is literally the only ability in the game that will let you cast leveled spells and Misty Step in the same round while still leaving your BA free means Archfey is going to be capable of tricky shenanigans no other class can do, even ones that aren't focused on raw power, but are focused on fey theming too. I see that as subcapstone-worthy.

Dark delirium does specifically specify "The creature can see AND hear only itself, you, and the illusion" Also the illusion portion and this portion have no save. So it was see only itself and you and the illusion with no save and they get a save against charm or frighten with you.
Maybe they don't do DD, but for me I would like SOMETHING that isn't just a couple more teleports a day that pairs with specific spells.
