So i was toying with the idea of removing the subclass battlemaster at giving the features to the baseline fighter?
I have always thought that the fighter is a specialist. He is more than a soldier, he is a survivor because of his skill in combat.
Maybe some of the manoeuvres are subclass dependent, or restricted from.
Too OP? Nice flavour? What manoeuvres would you make specific? are there others out there we could add?
PS. I could actually see it as an opportune time to fold in the Ranger as a subclass ( i mean ranger 1 and 2 could be removed entirely and the rest of ranger is exactly OP).
The problem with stripping the subclass and giving the abilities to the baseline Fighter is that the Fighters in your campaign will outshine the other classes because of this power bump. Unless the party consists purely of Fighters, this could make players that are playing other classes feel a bit useless and lose enjoyment.
A less invasive way would be to homerule the Fighting Style Superior Technique to grant more than 1 superiority die and/or maneuver. This would make your Fighters feel like a mini Battle Master without taking the subclass. But again you need to be cautious of how this changes the class dynamic within the group.
