The new variant rules (I think that's what they are) for the Ranger class grant you "Roving" at lvl 6 that states: "Your walking speed increases by 5, and you gain a climbing speed and a swimming speed equal to your walking speed".
Meanwhile, the centaur feature "Equine Build" states: "...any climb that requires hands and feet is especially difficult for you because of your equine legs. When you make such a climb, each foot of movement costs you 4 extra feet, instead of the normal 1 extra foot".
My question is this: Does Roving negate Equine Build? Can a lvl 6 centaur Ranger climb normally? What would you rule?
Hmm... I guess it negates it? I mean it does say it costs four instead of the usual one extra, so if the usual one does not apply...
I doubt it's intended though... I feel like they probably don't expect centaur super climbers, but I'd allow it myself, if the player to explain how on earth they'd manage mountaingoat it up a rock wall.. It'd be pretty entertaining tbh :P
Perhaps a more balanced approach would be to take the penalty down to regular climbing penalty?
Edit: You know what... It appears there are several ways of negating climbing penalty, such as the athlete feat, which straight up tells you that climbing has no movement penalty. .So I say go for it, make your centaur a mountain goat !
I have a question for you DMs out there!

Mountain goat centaur was exactly what I was going for! Thank you!
Hm. Technically, Equine build is modifying the normal walking/running movement, not fly, swim or climb speed. So, yes, unpenalized.
