Hey peeps! Does anyone know if it is possible to design a subclass which allows a barbarian to wear heavy armor but still gain the speed boost from the Fast Movement feature? I am trying to design a barbarian subclass which relies more on armor, but I want it to still gain this speed increase. I am struggling to find a way to do this in the homebrew editor and I just wanted to know if anyone knew of a way to achieve this effect?
Unfortunately, the homebrew editor has absolutely zero ability to allow a subclass feature to modify a base class feature in any way, and it's extremely difficult (often also impossible) to get conditional bonuses to work. It's a known weakness in the system. Sorry.
That's one of those conditional bonuses I mentioned, unfortunately.
The homebrew tool doesn't really allow players to do anything that isn't basic, simple, static, ordinary Classic D&D stuff. You don't get to do cool conditional bonuses, you don't get to do neat customized actions, you don't get to muck with class features, you don't get to do jack-monkey squat. The subclass builder, especially, is deeply and distressingly deficient and generally restricts players to very minor adjustments to published subclasses at best.
The homebrew tools are largely built to enable the developers to code the official mechanics. They're made a bit broader than doing only that, sure, but that doesn't mean they're built to be flexible homebrew tools you can code any sort of thing you like with. In DDB's defense, the latter would be hard to do and require a lot of work that wouldn't necessarily translate into a proportionate revenue stream, but the bottom line is that I still very much prefer working analog for any homebrew stuff I want to use. Just writing it down on a piece of paper means the sky's the limit on what I can come up with.

Ok, thanks for your help. I still enjoy the homebrew building tools for the most part. Yes there are a number of aspects that would be great if they implemented them, but the base tools that DDB provides are pretty great lbh.

Is there a way to add speed bonus only in heavy armor?

I don’t use the homebrew tool, so sorry if this wouldn’t work. What if you home brewed the armor to give a speed bonus?
