I just got signed up today and since it was pay day I bought a few of the source books that sounded interesting to me. All 3 core rule books as well.
So I have a couple questions. How easy is it to run an in person game using Beyond? It seems like it would work really well, everyone just brings their phone and connects to your campaign I'm guessing?
Second question, how easy is it to import 3rd party content from places like DM's Guild? There is so much great content there and I'd love to be able to use that stuff in a campaign.
To answer your first question: as long as all your players are reasonably tech savvy, this works great. I’ve done it for online and in-person games and it simplifies a lot.
Signing up is probably better than it used to be now there are more third-party authentication options (a lot of my players used to have to create a Twitch account just to use for D&D Beyond and it baffled them), but that can be confusing to folks who don’t know what to expect from a service like this. Also joining a campaign is also not yet as easy as it could be, so make sure you know how it works yourself to help guide them through it (there are great guides here in the forums).
There’s no automated way to import third party stuff, but you can manually recreate monsters, items, spells and subclasses using the homebrew tools here pretty successfully. You can’t publicly publish anything you’re copying from someone else’s book, but you can share your private homebrew with members of your campaign. (I’d have to check but I think that requires the Master tier subscription, just as it does for books - again there are some great guides to this stuff here in the forums.)
Master tier also means that once your players sign up for the site with a free account and get access to your purchased content.
You can create a campaign here on the site (under Collections > My Campaigns > Create a Campaign and enter a name for your campaign and click Create Campaign. Then on the next screen click View Campaign and click Enable Content Sharing. That way, when you send the invite link to your players, they will have free access to all the races, classes, sub classes, spells, etc. in the books that you bought for use with their characters.

Excellent, I went ahead and signed up for Master Tier already. I figured I may as well help support the site.

Good luck, and happy gaming!
Thanks :)
