I really want to try playing a satyr warlock of pan also really like the style of undead patrons. In mythology pan is a dead god of satyrs, so would i be able to spin pan into an undead patron since hes by technicality just an extremely powerful satyr born from the gods that somehow died. Im also imagining the form of dread ability to be similar to how pan and dionysus have the whole insanity inducing true forms where vines grow everywhere and the sound of flutes can be heard.
im thinking the characters goal would be to find the reason for pans death, so could this work as an undead patron?
Typically, gods have clerics, not warlocks, though any given table may play it differently. Whether or not Pan is dead, or even exists in a given world, will be up to the DM. So, basically, talk to your DM. It will be their call.
Like said in the original, pan is basically just an archfey rather than a full on god, and so is in a similar state to gods such as tiamat or gods of the underworlds where they can count as both a god and a fiend or in tiamats case a dragon; and so i think may have both clerics and warlocks

Again, that mythology may or may not be true at any given table. DM are not beholden to anyone else’s lore, be it written by ancient Greeks or WotC. So ask your DM.

This isn't really a "mechanical" right or wrong question. This is a question about whether your character makes sense in the world you're playing them in. I mean anything can work in a world of free association, but you need to check in with the DM to make sure Pan has a place in the game world. A lot of DMs playing a more casual game may be "sure, whatever." Others may have a world with a developed mythology where Pan may have a particular place or no place. So when you get to questions that are more involved with integrating a concept with a game world's lore, that's a discussion with the DM not a bunch of internet randos who have no understanding of the DM's game world.

From where I'm standing the simplest way to do this would be to nix the god elements and just make him the ghost of a really powerful Satyr. Maybe even make it an ancestor to your character.
As Midnight and others have said, this is really a question for your DM, or perhaps 2 questions: 1) is there a place for pan and my character in your campaign? 2) Are you willing to base a significant portion of the campaign on “my” character and their quest?
as an example I’m presently running a campaign set in the realms mashing together saltmarsh and the phandalin modules, while a satyr warlock would fit Pan and the quest would not. On the other hand I’ll planning a Spelljammer campaign which would be much more open to a search for a dead god and could much more easily include Pan.
so check with your DM on what they are willing to include ( and when).
