How would you feel about items that convert vehicles into powered vehicles? Like, you could buy an Elemental Vault in Eberron and hook it up to your carriage to get a car. Or a Coin Case in Invernus to make your wagon into a funky pick-up. Or a black powder motor to have a gun powered bike.
I’d go for potentially kinda cool…but you’d need to build out an entire vehicle system similar to the Avernus vehicles (probably more developed than that too)…and more importantly…why?? In most campaigns in my experience is vehicles end up getting parked - 99.9% of rules are player character rules.
Because I was making a comprehensive vehicles list and it felt like the most space effective way to handle it.
There's a Spell Slot version, the Elemental version (letting you use a mephit to power a motorcycle), the Infernal War Machine version, and... why the heck not, a black powder version meant to replace steam power / gasoline.

Is this cool, or dumb?

You could adapt a spelljammer helm to work for other vehicles.
