Apologies if this is the wrong place place ask, but I couldn't find a better place to ask elsewhere.
The Player Handbook is available digitally on this site. I was wondering what format it was? Ie is it only available here, or is it a download and what type of file is it, if it is?
Additionally, is it worth it? I'm probably going to get it physically, I prefer physical books for perusing, but is it worth getting it digitally as well? I have a 50% off voucher. I was thinking of getting it for my wife for her Kobo Elipsa so she can read it as well, plus I might make notes on it, but that only really works if it is downloadable.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
It's a number of web pages, not a single file. While you technically can download all of them to have them available offline, the idea is that you peruse them in an online browser. They are easily downloadable if you use the app on a tablet or phone, but the Kobo Elipsa is (I believe) a straightforward e-reader, not an actual tablet you can install apps on.
As for worth it, that depends entirely on your situation and on how you want to use it. For most people the big benefits are getting to use the content they own in the character builder and sharing it with others in the same campaign (which requires a Master tier subscription).

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
on mobile devices, you can download the PHB and any other sourcebooks you own in and read them through the DDB app while offline. So that's handy to just have to carry it around on a phone or tablet.
The biggest advantage is that any sourcebooks you own will be integrated into the tools offered by the site. and, depending on your PoV, anytime an errata is released, your digital copy is automatically updated.
Thank you for the responses! Weve decided not to, since we prefer physical books and we primarily wanted it for annotation and a quick reference. If it had been a PDF, it would have been useful and we would have gotten it, but since it's only Web browser or app, it wouldn't be as helpful. Perhaps if we get a hit more serious in the future and we're often running games with others on a regular basis we'll reconsider.
