I don't think I'll try it given your reservations, but I'd like to give you props for doing ANYTHING to provide this functionality. D&D Beyond users have been asking for this since the encounter builder was first introduced and even with their substantial resources, Wizards can't seem to get it done.
I can not give a gurantee ofc but as it is a very simple script I deem it quite save, I am just not that familiar in this teritory. I usualy work closer to databases but i did my best the most realisitc error would be a messed up fight which is not too bad.
Honestly I hope they will just do something similar even a simple text field, like mine, does a lot and if my script becomes obsolet... I am very happy about it.
I build a small and not-so-nice-looking script to allow tracking effects like exhaustion on monsters. It's licensed to be modified so feel free: https://tldrlegal.com/license/creative-commons-attribution-noncommercial-(cc-nc)#summary. use it with caution ;)
