I haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet, but from a sheer heft standpoint the Baldur's Gate Gazetteer seems pretty substantial. I wondered what kinds of tie-ins we might get with the Baldur's Gate III video game. Between this and the cosmic horror theme of the upcoming Phandelver and Below campaign it seems WotC is understandably leaning heavily into the buzz around it. Hopefully people will find things they like in the content.
Honestly, this is the kind of content I'd want to see in a setting book. And that's for one city! Everything being sold is so... emaciated and lacking in content, and they made this for *free!*

Actually, it was made as part of the Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus module. They've just turned it into a free stand-alone for people who haven't bought the module. It's cool, but it's just a reprint of something that was originally released four years ago.

I've actually gotten more use out of the Gazetteer than I did BG: DiA, loads of hooks in that appendix.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
It's pretty fantastic. I wish I had had that a couple years ago when I basically had to search for all this info in tons of old books and webpages to help me with my campaign as I really wanted my players to feel how much of a bustling and intricate city this is.
I hope more content like this is provided in the future as I think there's currently not a ton of detailed setting content for Forgotten Realms and there's so much potential.

It is great and just the thing one would want to add flavor to the campaign and the city. I really like it!

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
