Some times I think about an update of the martial maneuvers from 3.5 "Tome of Battle: Book of nine Swords". And after seing the changes of the psion class I guess the philosophy for 2024 system is any possible new class with special game mechanic should be easy to be adapted for players who don't want to play with those classes.
Then the "martial maneuvers" by the martial adepts (crusader, swordsage and warblade) would work like a catrip or at-will spell, but with the difference some action is used to reload.
Other option is some spell allowing to cast a "mystery" or "arcane technique", a spell what gives the spellcaster the power to use a "martial maneuver" until the end of the encounter. How to explain it with an example? Let's imagine a wizard summoning a magic crossbow. Until the end of the encounter she can shoot all the times she wanted, but after each shot an action is spent to reload the crossbow.
With this idea the soulmelds from "magic of incarnum" could be recycled for the 2024 edition.
The challenge for the game design is the power balance. it shoud be little more powerful than the standars catrip, because the reload demands to use an action,
Or we could create a new power scale for "spells" that are reloaded with only a ten-minute rest.
