So if i, animate objects
Animate Objects
5th-level transmutation
Casting Time: 1 action Range: 120 feet Components: V, S Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Objects come to life at your command. Choose up to ten nonmagical objects within range that are not being worn or carried. Medium targets count as two objects, Large targets count as four objects, Huge targets count as eight objects. You can’t animate any object larger than Huge. Each target animates and becomes a creature under your control until the spell ends or until reduced to 0 hit points.
As a bonus action, you can mentally command any creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 500 feet of you (if you control multiple creatures, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete.

this thing stacks?
Brute Force
Starting at 3rd level, you’re able to strike with your weapons with especially brutal force. Whenever you hit with a weapon that you’re proficient with and deal damage, the weapon’s damage increases by an amount based on your level in this class, as shown on the Brute Bonus Damage table.
They do not stack. The bonuses that you receive from Brute apply to you.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
I had the impression the brute was consigned to being a nice concept but too much of munchkin reskin of the champion to be a good thing and never going to see the light of published material, has it been modified again?
Addressing the question - Brute bonus to damage die mechanically is about brute personal damage. In terms of how your game world works its exactly the same thing: Your brute rides a horse, the horse doesnt get a damage increase. Your brutes weapon is picked up and used by a companion - they dont get a damage increase with it, Your spells dont get a damage increase. (*green flame blade is an exception - sort of, you cast it and make a melee weapon attack which would allow you to benefit from the brute die, although the brute bonus would not affect the flame damage) Although its interesting you mention that as it begs the question of if in the future we see the brute a core class, then will casters get a version adding die of damage to spells?
Have fun with your brute and enjoy the game whenever you can play.

The objects move and attack on their own so you wouldn't get any kind of bonus with them.
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"

The animated objects are creatures, not weapons. (That sounded more philosophical than it is.)
