Hello all. I would like to put forth the idea of how srmor class can play into the narrative of combat. I would like to use a lizard fol monk for with shield cast upon them for example.
The levels of ac imho would be base 10, scalea, 13, DeX, wiz, sheild spell.
I belive it would work simple you are attack with a 10 or less the monk wont move the attack misses, 13 to 11 it scraps across his scales. Marchs 15 to DeX he dodges, dex to wiz, he training kicks in and he deflects or counters, and lastly shield hebwas unable to react and it bounces off the magic shell.
Thoughts. Please discuss I like this idea and would like to build off it.
Also I know some of these dont stack. But I dont feel its important for the idea.
it would defiantly take more time for the dm to do the math, but i thinks its a fun idea for those willing to do it
I wouldn't put the onus on the DM, put it on the player. The DM has more than enough to do already. DM: "Does an X hit?" Player then describes which layer of his protection deflects the attack.

That's why is optional. I as a dm would do it. But I understand why not. Also use it maybe ever so often to help connect and cimaticize combat.
If you want to have a standard method of handling these, then that's your prerogative. It sounds like a bit of work to me, but if I were a player in your game, I would find it fun and descriptive, so go for it.

If that's how you want to roleplay/depict it, knock yourself out.
I have had similar thoughts. You need to have these numbers ready ahead of time though and it gives each character essentially 4+ ACs to track.
