I want to make a Ranger, but have him be much more like a Rogue (as in a stealthy fighter that can deal massive amounts of damage to individual targets)and possibly a Ranger/Rogue multiclass later on. As such, I thought the Gloom Stalker UA would be perfect. Here is what I have so far
Name: Nikolai Morozov
Race: Half-Wood Elf
Ability Score Improvements: Dexterity and Wisdom
Language: Sylvan (as he grew up in the forest, he learned to speak with the Fey creatures that lived there)
Half-Elf Variant: Mask of the Wild
Class: Ranger Archatype: Gloom Stalker
Proficiencies: Stealth, Survival and Perception
Favoured Enemy: Humanoids - Humans and Elves (Language: Goblin, because golbins make excellent shadow scouts possibly?)
Fighting Style: Archery
Spells: Ensnaring Strike, Hail of Thorns and Hunters Mark. (Gloom Stalker additional spell: Disguise Self)
Equipment: Shortsword, Dagger, Longbow, Arrows and Scale Mail
I imagine that he would stick to the shadows as much as possible. Using his spells to track and slow down the enemy and then his speed, stealth and manoeuvrability combined with his long-range attacking capabilities to strike precise, deadly blows against his targets before they even know that he is there. For example, he uses Hunters Mark to track his target, Ensnaring Strike to slow them down and then Hail of Thorns to deal additional damage. He would do this while remaining on the move, hidden by the shadows.
So he is precise, quick and deadly and all his spells and with abilities geared towards taking down the enemy quickly from a distance before they even know he is there.
I also have the idea that down the line I might want to multiclass this character into, Ranger: Gloom Stalker/Rogue: Assassin (possibly, Gloom Stalker 5, Assassin 3).
Do you guys and gals have any advice, thoughts or tips on how I could pull this off?
Cheers

Gloom Stalker excels in one place specifically, initiating combat. Max your Stealth to pick you battles, Max Perception to pick your targets, and have a quick draw option. talk IC between the party, get different tells from each member, when they give, you initiate. Assassin is fun to splash into this, but your job is round one, eliminate the squishies, then focus VIP's down.
Other than that, keep your character's goals in mind and try to mesh them with party goals, but don't be afraid to say 'My dude wants this quest giver dead, can you all back me on this?"

Firstly, Gloom Stalker isn't UA anymore, they were published in Xanathar's Guide so you might want to make sure that you're using the latest version.
Secondly, what are you actually asking about? If you want a stealthy gloom stalker, sink points into dex, take stealth, go from there.
