While I will start off saying that there should be a lot of build up for the fight against the end of a double module encounter that would be a truely heroic moment. Given that I will be moving state from usual DnD group, I wanted to try and make a high level boss encounter against something truely memorable.
So I have a few ideas to start out with. The 'have fun coin' where you fail three times in a row and you get advantage thing. Was aiming to use that as it makes sense to be there. Was thinking on a desperation tick. Like where players who have fallen would be able to add various d4's to people living as if their spirit is helping in such a desperate fight. Just a fun idea to toss around.
But aside from random allies popping up to help them since I dislike how the entirety of Tyranny of Dragons is to gather allies, yet it does a terrible job of saying how they really help, or hamper you to not have. Given the fight against Tiamat being one that even fully weakened is incredibly difficult, especially factoring the gear the magic items tabs give you. I should ask. What kind of gear would be normal for characters of 11th to 17th level be? Aside fro sticking the magical items onto flash cards to divy out and some potions to let them have some healing support, they would be normally a little weakened going into the fight as well. given hit points or spell slots utilized, No idea how to set up the whole fought their way to deal with her thing.
Otherwise, I ask. Any ideas people have to turn a fight against Tiamat to be a night of ups, downs, and a way to see higher level play than most games usually let you attain? Was going to make this a portent since most people will be using their current characters anyways. (a paladin/or rogue. Monk, Barbarian, and an unknown. But will give them a choice of cleric, paladin, or fighter as some ally since 4 players against her is just silly)
