I was contemplating buying the Essentials Kit, however after fiddling with the Encounter Builder it's clear the sidekicks only go to L12. Does anyone know if wizards has any intention to fleshing them out to L20 ? After a lot of searching it seems people are very reluctant on sharing on wiki's or anyplace the stat blocks from L6 and up. I'm guessing it's a copyright issue. However there is the Unearted Arcana version that has L20 level blocks, that slightly differ.
How do others play these sidekicks beyond L12 now, if anyone ever reached that level with sidekicks yet that is. Personally I have a feeling I want to use the simplified version of the Essentials kit, but until they flesh them out to L20 to use the level blocks of UA.
So since I have to homebrew it anyway is it even worth dropping 25 EUR to buy the Essentials Kit ?
He appended the level blocks with a copy paste from the UA. However for the expert, instead of giving Ability Score Improvement freely, shouldn't it be for the next two strictly Charisma and maybe for the last a choice between Charisma and Dexterity for one final boost to one of the two ? When it comes to the warrior as well he has three Strength increases, why not make the last three Constitution increases. Not sure about the spellcaster don't see any reason not to go Intelligence or Wisdom frankly
This is nice but again I would have to homebrew most of it, so I don't think it's worth it for me to pay 25 EUR just to be able to use the sidekicks. I'm running Sunless Citadel for my friends and I had a few cancelled sessions because a player cancelled and I would have loved to use the official sidekicks to replace a cancellation.
Also forcing a spellcaster to pick certain spells, feels wrong ... You should be able to build unique spellcaster sidekicks by letting them pick their spells.
