Silly question, I'm sure, but I have a campaign with some folks going and in the campaign management area I have it set to share content from the campaign that I'm currently running. With that said, either some of my player's are really clever and can easily figure out the puzzles and what not in the campaign we're playing, or I have a player reading the book from the website.
The thing is, is that I don't know if that's even possible!
Can anyone clarify for me if player's can read a campaign book that I purchased and shared in the campaign content management window?
I assumed I had to share it with them in order for them to be able to receive magic items that exist inside that campaign book but not in the DMG, for example.
While that is true (cheating players could always buy a copy of the book) DnDBeyond giving them access to it can make things tempting. I really think there should be an option to only give players access to magic items, backgrounds, subclasses etc and not the campaign text or monster stat blocks.
There is a way to select which books your players have access to. It only affects reading the book, so they will still have access to the player options. In your campaign on DND beyond, click on content management and you can individually switch off access to each of the books
There should be finer control in the content management for sharing -- 100%.
But... it really doesn't matter that much. A player who wants to spoil the adventure for himself can just buy it. This has always been possible, going back to "boxed set" days. Everyone who bought the Basic Set the year I did got B2: Keep on the Borderlands. If you wanted to cheat and look stuff up in there while playing it, there was nobody to stop you. (And because we were kids and stupid, many of us did, me included.)

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
This is something I was wondering as well. I have only purchased a couple of source books so far so that I can read the content on my iPad. I was thinking of starting an Eberron campaign and planning to run the starter adventure from RFTLW as an introduction to the new campaign. Most of my players have limited experience of D&D and none of Eberron. I had hoped to buy a subscription and thus allow them access to the background, player info in the first 3 chapters of the book. This makes it sound like that is not an option open to me, which makes a subscription seem a lot less worthwhile :(.
I guess there is a feature suggestion area / forum. I'll go and look for it. I think it would be good if you could share chapters of source books rather than just the whole book.
It is definitely still worthwhile. If you get the Master Subscription, you can block the book so that they won’t have access to the text. They’ll still have access to the character options in the character builder and when browsing the listings. Like Artificer, the backgrounds, magic items, etc. Although, my personal suggestion is just leave the book unblocked. It’s nice to have access to the setting so that you can just look something up when you want to. If you know that some of your players will read the adventure, then change around some of the parts.
