Have anyone played in the Epic Levels of 5e (aka beyond level 20)?
If so were you using a 3rd party supplement or homebrew rules or did you just have to multiclass or what?
What kinds of features were there for beyond level 20 characters? More ASI/feats? Increased Max Ability scores? Legendary class features? 10th level spells?
What if you multiclassed? How would https://vlc****/ a Level 20 X Class/Level 5 Y Class work? What if you multiclasses before reaching level 20?
Finally if you have played in a level 20+ game tell me about your epic character.
I do not think there have ever been official campaigns, in any edition, designed for play beyond the level cap. In fact, very few published adventures are designed to even reach that level cap in the first place. Even for non-adventure products, I do not think there have been very many designed to assist with post-cap play - 3.5 had the Elder Evils supplement, which was designed to kill off epic level characters and help end a campaign, but that is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
Five decades of data has indicated most campaigns fizzle out in the low-to-mid level range, and that is where game developers have focused their time. Wizards recently acknowledged this created a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy - by not supporting high level adventures, folks were less inclined to play high level adventures - and has done better recently about making higher level content for the game.
It is possible this will result in some additional high level support in the revised 5e rules - or at least better integration into D&D Beyond of the present epic-level systems. But, even with high level campaigns receiving renewed attention from WotC, I do not see them putting too much effort into content beyond max level. The overwhelming number of campaigns do not last to level 20 - going far beyond 20 is an incredibly small subset of an already incredibly small subset.
Well it seems that WOTC just said to hell with epic level campaigns, magic items ect. To bad for that. I really liked going above 20th level.
"Just said?" Did something recent happen that you're referring to? I don't think there've ever been printed modules that go past 20th in 5e but I could be wrong.
