I made a character (obv) and I feel really proud of this one. One of my other characters were uninspired/unoriginal, but this one, I think, is much more unique. So I simply wanted to get some other peoples opinions on it, and maybe even some help with what I haven't done yet (backstory, ideals, some other stuff).
I like the idea of using a tabaxi as a bard, it’s really interesting and the ability score increases are great for bards. If you’re looking to replace cure wounds, I would recommend feather fall. It can easily save the lives of both your character and the characters in your party, and works well lore-wise with the saying that cats always land on their feet. I don’t think the notes and personality traits are accessible by other viewers (or at least I can’t see them where they normally are for my character sheets), so could you post those here?
The hit points are off... d8 with no con mod doesn't get you to 12... Which isn't really a big deal. The character is mechanically functional. Many characters are. My curiosity is more about the tensions that make characters fun to play. I was looking for Character Traits, Personality, Ideals, Bonds, and Flaws, but I didn't see them...
I didn’t realize that the notes and personality couldn’t be seen! I apologize. I don’t know how to fix it, so lll post the stuff here. I’m really sorry.
She is a chaotic neutral entertainer (entertainer background). I don’t have ideals or bonds yet, but I plan to make those soon. Same with backstory. I do have her personality though.
She is an entertainer at heart. She loves to tell stories, and act those stories out, always with much flare. Her stories are almost always about a hero, heroine, or group of heroes. She adores the idea of a hero defeating evil. She loves this idea so much, that sometimes she'd go seek out people and use magic to turn them into heroes for her stories. This includes making the hero look stronger, or making the villain stronger to make the hero seem even more powerful. She of course pretends magic was never involved when the event happened, and frames herself as a simple bystander to greatness. All of her stories are done like this, with her making the acts of the heroes much grander than they actually are. As for her view on herself, she views herself how she tells others; a simple bystander to greatness. While she is very talented in the arcane arts, she doesn't see herself so, nor lets anyone think so. This causes a sort of low self esteem, although she doesn't realize she has has it.
Not sure how your stats were set, but if Point Buy, I would personally drop Int to 10 and Wis to 12, seeking more Dex and Con as possible. If it was another method and they're fixed as they appear, it's certainly playable and I don't think you'll end up feeling "behind" playing in a group. SO far as dropping Cure Wounds, I would base that more on who else in the group can heal. It's not often healing in a fight makes sense, but when it does, having a decent heal to upcast can make the difference. Also it likely won't be game breaking to NOT have it, as your DM will likely be working the world a bit to help you find ways to overcome any gaps.
Sounds like a fun character to play, with lots of options open for social interaction and RP. I think you'll enjoy this one, no matter what mechanical changes you make (or don't).

They were point buy, and I just fixed it! I raised dex by one and con by two! As for cure wounds, I went with another persons idea of switching to Featherfall, bcs I thought it’d fit the character better. And thank you! I’m really excited to play her!

She sounds awesome! What's her response to adversity likely to be?
Usually stepping back and let someone else handle it. If that isn’t possible, she’ll try to make solving conflict as quick and simple as possible. If it’s physical, she’ll use her dagger or magic if needed. If it’s more diplomatic (idk any better word) she’ll simply use her natural bard charm.
I meant more in a long-term, goal oriented sense. Is she a patient person? Prone to self destructive behavior? When the CR17 big bad can't be opposed openly because the party is level 6, how will Diyan make progress?
*Edit* and the answer could easily be that she will discover her answer in the course of play. For my money the most fun part of playing a character is discovering what matters to them and what they're willing to do to achieve their goals.
I’m so sad, I was trying to write suggestions on my phone and accidentally hit the refresh and lost everything :(
I’ll keep this short and sweet.
I’m assuming you intend to subclass into swords or valor.
Definitely increase constitution to 14 and drop the int to make up for it.
Pick a rapier for your starting weapon instead of a dagger. If you want to dual wield you’ll want short swords not daggers. Also keep in mind you can’t use your weapon as a spellcasting focus so you’ll want to have 1 weapon in 1 hand and your instrument in the other if you want to be spellcasting.
I would definitely recommend watching YouTube build guides for sword/valor bards so you can get an idea how players play/build the subclass. You don’t need to copy it but it could help with what to think about when selecting spells, how to fight in combat, and what feats may be worth looking into.

Here is the link for the character- https://ddb.ac/characters/67742634/WaXc6N
Some things I'm thinking of changing that I'd love feedback for-
Changing from chaotic neutral to neutral good
Switching cure woods for...something. Idk yet.
That's it so far

Oh okay, I see. Honestly...I'm not sure yet. I usually tend to do what you said, figuring it out as I go. So that's what I'll probably do for her.
