I recieved the Dungeons and Dragons essentials kit for Christmas, and I attempted to play a solo game with my mum DMing, with next to no preparation whatsoever. As we were in a hurry, I chose the starter quest that had the least complex map, and near instantly got killed by a manticore. Does anybody have any maps that can be used for the Dnd Essentials Kit (secret rooms should be seperate from the main area)
I just checked and I found coupons for additional content for the module, a digital version of the module, and 50% off the digital players handbook. The DMs guide does have maps, I know that but it says that they are for the DM's eyes only, as they include where all the secret rooms are
To clarify: are you asking about the physical version of the essentials kit? If so, I don't believe it has player maps included. You get the poster map of Phandalen on one side and the Sword Coast on the other side. For the rest of the maps you just have the ones for the DM in the adventure book. One of the big advantages of the digital version on DnDBeyond is that you get a link to both the original map and a player version with secrets removed.
Yes, but on the player version of Dwarven excavation, it shows what is behind a secret door, and that seems like something that does not belong on the player version. I know where to find the player version, but it seems like there is conten that does not belong there until it is found
Unfortunately, that happens from time to time. I've seen multiple player maps from Forge of Fury to Dungeon of the Mad Mage have those mistakes. Usually it's just one or two instances where the artist/designer missed removing it prior to publishing.
You can find some online that people have done already. Normally, I'd never suggest anyone go and download the "non-official" image of a map, but this type of thing is definitely an exception since it has yet to be officially corrected.

I thought the Essentials Kit came with an online coupon for DnDbeyond?
There are maps included in the module here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/doip
(including Umbrage Hill):

There is a player's version of the maps, which is linked to below the DM's maps.

Thx will check it out
are there any maps where the secret rooms are not shown?
That is the player's version of the map, it does not show any secret or hidden parts.

Okay, it just didn't look like that
It's just that it shows wherer a secret door is on the player vrsion, and that seems like something that the pleyers ehould not see

Just pulled up the map, and yeah... that one is pretty bad. Multiple "S" indicators visible that should have been removed from the player version.
Do you know anybody that could photoshop it out and put the secret rooms on a seperate page?

Can you recommend anybody who has done that?
