Heya, I just got 2 racial features for 2 different races I'm making and wanted some feedback.
For my first, I wanted the ability to be some sort of last ditch effort on an attack, something like "Roll a d12 and take that much damage and it cannot be prevented in any way. Then add the result of your roll +Str modifier (just for a melee weapon attack) and your next attack deals that much additional damage." This would probably be a once per LR and you cannot use it when at full health is what I'm feeling so far.
As for my other racial feature, I was thinking along the lines of "When you attack a creature that hasn't lost HP yet this combat, you make that attack with advantage." Or else I was feeling it could be your 1st attack has advantage per combat, or you have advantage when attacking an unharmed creature, but it only works on your 1st 3 rounds of combat for example.
I'm still unsure of what would be the most balanced at the moment, but any feedback is greatly welcome! I will also change my wording obviously for the final version of each feature.
1: So, create an an action for the trait. Make the action general, limited use long rest, and don't specify a specific action or bonus action. Put in the description, and put in a d12. This should pop up on the character sheet.
2: This one is very powerful. Add (Advantage on attack rolls) in modifiers, and specify your restrictions in the space provided.
