I'm trying to port an older monster, the tsochar, into 5e. The tsochar are body-snatching aberrations that can burrow into a humanoid and either spectate or seize control, killing the host. In order to do so, using the text of the possession ability shared by ghosts and yak-folk, but the possession ability states that the host loses control of their body. Is anybody aware of an official monster in 5e that has a possession ability, but doesn't directly seize control of the host?
I agree. I'm currently using a gestalt of the yakfolk priest possession ability, the intellect devourer body thief ability, and some text from the ToA trickster god possession. I'm being pedantic about it because the distinction between having and not having control could matter greatly if the text isn't sufficiently comprehensive. Basically, I want to have my RAW bases covered.
Hi all,

Thanks!
I don’t know of any, but you can always just create your own monster that is basically just a ghost, but they have the option not to seize control.
