I really like the lore of the shadow from the DMG, but I was disappointed that it was only CR 1/2. I used the shadow demon as a base to create a higher CR version of it. What I was wondering was if the changes I made to the shadow demon would warrant an increase in CR. I'm not sure if its too similar to the shadow demon or the shadow itself, so I'm not publishing it, but here are the changes:
Ability Scores (Bold changed): Str 6 Dex 17 Int 16 Wis 13 Cha 10
Lightning and Cold become resistance, not immunity.
Poison is an immunity, not resistance
Darkvision, 60ft not 120
Shadow Amorphous feature instead of Incorporeal Movement.
Sunlight Sensitivity instead of Light Sensitivity
Strength Drain feature added to the Claw attack, which deals necrotic damage now.
My main concern is that the strength drain feature might increase the difficulty of the monster beyond 4, along with the change from all light being a problem to just sunlight. My party is low level, and I want to make sure I balance this right.

Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
