When counting damage against monsters round up their hp to the nearest ten and round the incoming damage to the nearest this will help the speed of combat and it tends to even out. especially as you get to higher levels.
Also when a hoard of monsters is attacking the players minionize them by making them have 1 hit point and if they make a save for an AOE spell they take no damage if they succeed instead of half
