So, I’ve decided I really hate the Beholder’s 60 foot Anti-magic Cone, due to it stopping the Beholder’s own eye rays. With that in mind, I wanted to give the Beholder a Dispel Magic as an Eye Ray from the Central Eye, as well as Counter Spell (as a Reaction). Both at 4th level. Do people feel this is fine? Would there likely be an increase or decrease in CR? I understand not everyone will like this and I don’t mind be told so, and why, but please just be polite about it.
I feel like if you don't want the anti-magic cone to stop the beholder's eye rays, the easier fix would be to say that it doesn't.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Well, obviously I can do that, I just have the trouble of justifying the fantasy physics of it to myself. A long time ago I’d have said the Beholder used Anti-magic to power off the PC’s while they were fighting monstrous minions, but the only monsters I can see being minions of a Beholder would probably be Charmed by it. It could use the cone while PC’s were navigating an uneven landscape (lots of climbing or bottomless pits the PCs chose to Fly over by example) but that seems pretty hard to guarantee. Though it does suggest lair design the Beholder would favor considering it’s own flying ability.
