I've been looking for a while at some various homebrew critical damage tables, but never found something that quite fit what I'm looking for. I while ago I was watching a Critcrab video (I believe) and saw this odd system for critical damage. I don't think it was for dnd either. But it worked off a dynamic table. I'll get to that after I describe what I'm looking for if you'd like a specific example, or know where I can find this table.
To start, my definition of critical damage is a large amount of damage is done--- I.e., over half--- but I can easily tweak anything that doesn't fit that. Most of the tables that I find are very punishing. Permanent injuries or massive set backs. I prefer running games that have a breadth of punishing and lenient, so having a crit just cut off an arm no question is a bit over the top for me. However, it makes sense and is a good consequence. What I'm looking for is something that progresses in severity. Such that the first time you get a massive scar, the second time you can't use that arm for a day, The third time the arm is gone. If there is anything similar to this, I would love to hear it because creating your own homebrew table when there's this many damage types can be foreboding.
Now, for the inspiration for this idea. If I remember correctly, it was something like a 200 scale table that you roll a d100 for, but the numbers may be off. The premise is, the lower the number, the less severe. However, the amount of times this happens increase the number rolled. So the first crit damage is a d100, but the second is d100+10, or something like that. I don't believe that this was made for a hp system, but I might be able to tailor this to fit 5e. If anyone knows how I can find this table, I beg of you. I have been searching for months, both for the original video and the table to no avail.
Thank you all for any help.
