There are another two pages of rules to cover the actual goings on of a game, different kinds of score fields, and different kinds of stadiums in the Hypercorps 2099 5e book. :D

Blitz ball from Final Fantasy 10 is a great option.
I had a rooftop sport called Skyball that required that at least some positions on a team have magically enhanced movement, and was a parkouring mix of basketball and rugby. On rooftops, or raised platforms.
You're looking for a sport, in a fantasy setting, that could be played equally well by both warriors and magic-types, eh? Well, not many ideas come to mind. But, if i were you, i would come up with one that requires at least a certain level of skill. For example, you can make it to where the mages require a certain spell, while the warriors will need certain gear, with both possibly being provided by the sport organizers. (magic wands that are rechargeable for the mage-types). next, you should come up with an idea that would put them both to the test equally. i think something like magic paintball would be a fun idea, with only non-lethal spells being allowed, and have platforms across the field that raise and lower randomly. You could develop a new spell called Paint shot, which does 0-damage, but shoots a Tiny sized (meaning the size category, so its about the size of a sprite) sphere of paint using conjuration magic. It then has a range of about 40 feet. this would be put into wands for spellcasters to use. Then warriors would get a weapon of their choice that turns ethereal on impact with something alive, and leaves behind a smear of paint on all touched surfaces. Each team will be provided with gear suitable to their class (a light metal composite for tanks, cloth and leather for attackers, and robes for mages (unless they want to have the light armor) in addition, you could incorporate a small pistol-like device or a medium rifle that acts like the Paint Shot wand, which the warrior and ranged types would use for ranged types, with each gun-wand having a different range. Scattered across the platform and the field would be little bunkers and barriers that can be used for cover. plus, with the size of the field, you could have various types of matches- CTF, Elimination (last person standing), or Free-for-All.
Not necessarily. all you need is someone that is Proficient with Animal Handling and have the racer have a background of interacting with owlbears or similar beasts. In addition, this seems more like the kind of thing that you would show up for during Downtime, and that you would gamble on(or pick the wealthy pockets if you're a thief) instead of be a racer for.
So I'm on a kick watching The Legand of Korra, and in season one professional sports bending is a thing.
It made me think, of course it's a thing.
It made want to ask I'm the Homebrew.
How would you organize a professional sports league in a fantasy setting?
Not just a gladatorial arena, but a "sport" that could include wizards and warriors.

I am a huge fan of Owlbear Racing, which is less a professional sport, and more of a "Wizard Tournament" event.

You're confused. Owlbear racing isn't merely a spectator sport. It's an adventure!
i can imagine a bard just sitting in the back, continuously singing as the cart gets attacked, lol
