It’s been a hot minute since i ran a game, and I'm actually planning on running with the Väsen system as I’m going to do a creepy mystery for halloween.
But i was wondering, would it be better for a mystery to roll player checks (like noticing deception or body language ect) for them in secret behind the screen and only tell them if they succeed, and have them wondering what on earth those dice could potentially be if they fail.
Or should i let the players have the satisfaction of being able to roll their own dice for these scenarios, but have them knowing they missed something and just be like “welp, guess i don’t know”
I just remembered actually there’s a ruling in the system where players still get the information but take mental damage. But i don’t know if i would want to implement this too much and have a player out of action due to failing a skillcheck to try and read someone’s face.
What do you think?
