I have made my first ever homebrew species, the Tak (Batfolk) and wondered if it was balanced or if i was missing anything about this. I will share the link here and if you have any advice or comments it would be apreciated.
Aside from changing the wording it's pretty fine the way it is
For example If you fall more than 10 ft you can spread your wings and glide, you may move as much horizontally as you do vertically and take no fall damage. Does not work if you are wearing medium or heavy armour and you can't attack or cast spells with somatic components while gliding To If you fall more than 10 ft, you can spread your wings and glide. You can't use this feature if you are wearing medium or heavy armor, and you can't attack or cast spells with somatic components while gliding.
So aside from nitpicky stuff like that, awesome work!

I love homebrew! There is nothing better than new options for players and DMs alike. That being said, I have a few nitpicky little notes.
"... the Tak are large human-sized variations of bat species." - "Large" is a game term that defines the specific size category of a creature. The Tak may be considered large for bats, but they're not bats, they're a player character race. If they are roughly human-sized, then their size category is "Medium". Also, seeing a six foot tall bat would be hecking terrifying!
"The Tak speak Honduran..." - This could be confusing, because there is a real-world place called Honduras. Granted, Honduran is not a language, not even in Honduras, but there is the potential for confusion there. The word derives from the Spanish word for "depths". So there is an etymological connection there, since the Tak come from the Underdark. Rather than saying they speak Honduran, which is not a language in D&D or in our world, it may be better to say they speak Undercommon. They may also have their own specific language that they speak amongst themselves, that no other species can decipher or replicate, and you can name that whatever you want, but maybe not Honduran.
Ability Score Increase. - This is fine for a campaign that still uses the 2014 ruleset, but in the 2024 ruleset the ability score adjustments are tied to a character's background rather than their species.
Movement. - Climbing and Gliding abilities are a good fit. I would even extend the Glide ratio, so 10' down gives them 20' forward. On the other hand I would balance that by saying they can walk 30' per round only when quadrupedal, which means they can't use weapons or a shield at that speed. Walking upright should be slower, maybe just 20', for a species more accustomed to hanging and gliding.
Heightened Senses. - The combination of darkvision and echolocation would seem to give the Tak great powers of Perception. But they are from the Underdark and thus operate best in dim light or darkness. I would think proficiency in Perception would only apply in those conditions. So rather than giving them proficiency in Perception, I would instead just say they have advantage on Perception checks made in darkness.
Sound Sensitivity. - This is great. It balances their benefits and is very thematic.
Overall, this is a great idea for a new species, and very well constructed.
