I am in the process of creating a subclass for the Artificer that uses a power pool. The points are very limited starting out (Int Modifier so 3-4 max) but the limit goes up later on. I'd like to have this pool used to power a number of different abilities like armor (with a sort of False Life buffer), bolstering minions, etc.
I haven't seen this mechanic used very much (most commonly for the Abjuration Wizard and their Arcane Ward) and I wondered if players and DMs liked this approach or not?
I understand that the size of the pool, how it's replenished, what it can be used for, etc can all be broken if I make them too strong but I wanted to make sure the mechanic itself was unpopular for some reason.
Thanks in advance.
