A while ago I created a monster called a "Villi" and am interested in your feedback.
This monster is based on the baddies in the ballet "Giselle" and Puccini's first opera, "Le Villi," the plot of both centering around a young woman who died of a broken heart who comes back to take vengeance on the man who stood her up at the altar.
In English, we call these creatures, "The Willies," - as in "Gee! That gives me the willies!"
Re: Truesight. I created this so long ago I'm not sure what my reasoning was. It could probably go.
Re: Attack. Dance until death. 6 levels of exhaustion and you die. When I playtested this with my players, they didn't have a cleric or a way to turn undead, and the battle became quite deadly. The dance is particularly dreadful because Villi's can fly - and can take a creature dancing and spinning up into the air, or dance out over the edge of the cliff without falling, and if the character frees themself, they could fall. That's how it played out in the test battle. This little monster turned out to be surprisingly dangerous. I've weakened it a bit for this iteration. Also, pulling a creature underground - particularly dangerous for the smaller races. Suffocation is a thing.
Both times that I've used this monster, with two different groups, both groups underestimated it - and nearly died as a result. They thought it was a beautiful maiden, and when the thing asked one of them to dance, both groups had a player who said "yes" and then suddenly realized what a terrible mistake they had made.
Re: Hypnotized --- Not charmed. Because that just makes you friendly. I would say hypnotized in the classic Hollywood sense - you're "entranced" by the creature and fixated upon it. You can't move or do anything because what you're seeing is so beautiful you can't stop looking at it. The condition ... in game terms... is similar to incapacitated... but you're awake.

Thank you so much.

Hey Singerspell! I have a couple questions about the Villi, just to understand the stats.
1. What is the reasoning for the Villi's truesight?
2. What would you say is the Villi's primary form of attack?
3. What is the nature of the Villi's 'hypnotized' ability (a.k.a is it basically the 'charmed' condition, and are there any limitations)?
