so I´ve been working on a rogue arcane trickster for a campaign, which me and my mates will be running sometime after Christmas. I came up with the idea of a quack doctor, whose sole drive is to prove himself in the medical community of this world (despite his obvious shortcomings) in the form of, what he considers the miracle cure to everything: Artey´s Tincture of "Perpetual virility in the light of enduring attacks by the living dead, including everyday onlookers".
By no means is this concoction supposed to cure anything. On the contrary: the idea is ultimately compile a list of over 100 random side effects, which might occur as one consume this potions. It start with 10 effects at the beginning of the game and every second level or so, Artey´s adds more and more ingredients (which are yet to be decided) to the mixture, increasing the total count of effects, till 100 has been reached.
The final distribution (imo)= would be around 45 negative effects, 35 neutral effects and 20 positive effects (which are supposed to pale in comparison to how obscure/ridiculous some of the negative effects are going to be). Which specific effect would apply to the user, would then be randomly decided through increasing amount of d20/d10.
So since I´m rather new to the game, this is where I hope you guys can help me out. Any ideas what these side effects could be (without being to game breaking obviously)? If you got any ideas for but a single side effect, I be more than happy if you could post it up here.
Consider looking up the grog of substantial whimsy. It is sort if a bigger version of what you are describing. At the very least will have plenty of effects to choose from.
