I've been using Critical Hit charts for a few editions now, as I'm sure a lot of DMs have. Lately, I've been turning towards more of a Player empowering stye of DMing for my main campaign and it seems to be working out well. We've been having a lot more fun as a group. Along those lines, I've been thinking of changing the way I do Crit Results.
The idea I have is to start building up a small collection of Critical Results that are specific to each of my player's characters. For example, one of my players is playing a barbarian that focus on unarmed combat and grappling. One of the ideas I have for him would be that a Critical Unarmed strike could allow him to attempt a Grapple as a free action with Advantage. Essentially, I want to give each player a small pool of them relative to their character and allow them to choose whichever they want when they get a crit, as long as its relevant to the action.
What do you guys think of this idea? Worth fleshing out more?
