Hey there, I've got a question from one of my players. We're playing a monstrous campaign and are using one of the homebrew races for Ogres I found here on D&D beyond. The question they have is how unarmed monk damage would work with this specific ogres damage. The Ogre does 1d10 damage with unarmed damage naturally, while monks don't get to that point till way later. Would the monk unarmed damage still be 1d10, or would it be unarmed strike 1d4+w/e modifier and the ogre unarmed hit would be 1d10? Thanks in advanced.
So starting off... Most natural attacks are 1d4 or 1d6... 1d10 is a lot.
Secondly, the monk can choose to use the higher of the two. For example, if the monks special monk weapon was a dagger, then as they leveled up, they would be able to use, 1d6, 1d8 and then a 1d10 instead of a 1d4 for the daggers base damage

Yea I thought the 1d10 was a lot too, but in a way made sense to me for a massive creature like an Ogre. I may end up toning it down to a d6, but thanks for the info!
To be honest, if your player is a monk, just make it used the monk damage instead with an additional +2 Damage. That would probably be more balanced... If you have other characters using the race, than use a 1d6.
