I created some homebrew items for my players that level up with them (Shamelessly stole this idea from Critical Role with the Vestiges, as I'm sure many before me have done) and it just clicked in my head: If I put The WhackyWaffleWhalloper into the barb's inventory when they find it, when they're adding new items as we're playing, they might see The WhackyWaffleWhalloper Awakened pop up. They're gonna click it, they're human, they're curious.
I made 12 items, one for each character. I made a different item sheet thingie for each stage (Dormant, awakened, exalted), so 36...sheets. I've seen several items in the homebrew collection that level up with their character as well that explain how the items works per stage of growth, but the players would see that whole thing from the get-go, and so wouldn't be surprised. I'm tryin' make them be surprised when the items level up. Is there any kind of setting for me to mess with so the above situation doesn't happen? I foolishly thought of this after making each item, and admittedly, it took me kind of a long time to get everything to work properly, so I don't want to just delete them until they're (the item) ready to level up and create the sheet then, because that will hurt my soul.
