I'm working on a class for my homebrew world, Fether. Fether is a gaslamp/dark fantasy world that has been compared to Kult and Warhammer by various people.
The concept for the class is a Sanity-based caster, an investigator that opens their mind to things that should not be in order to better understand the universe at the cost of their own physical and mental health. They open up cracks in their mind, enabling them to see things that others would filter out in an effort to remain sane.
They would be physically frail but have proficiency in firearms, as they don't get cantrips. They wouldn't have much in the way of offense, much like a Bard, but they would have powerful utility abilities and excel at uncovering knowledge.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
Sounds interesting but I think you're going to need a lot more details before moving forward on this.
For starters, it seems like this would be an Intelligence-based caster. Giving them guns instead of cantrips says to me that this would be a half-caster who gets Extra Attack at some point.
It's also really hard to balance out a class that damages itself in some way. I think the easiest way to represent that might be to allow the class to spend their Hit Dice as a resource for other class features... otherwise you need to either lower max HP, or maybe decrease other stats or something... it's not something the game is really designed to work with. I'm imagining it working something like sorcery points, in that it gives you a way to boost spells or other abilities.
I dunno... like I said, I think I'd need to know more about what this class is trying to accomplish before I could offer much more in terms of advice. For now it kind of feels a lot like a Bloodhunter.
