So I'm doing a One on One Campaign built around the idea of an Isekai, so the PC is meant to be fairly overpowered. However, I want how overpowered he is to make sense mechanically as well.
The way his power works is that he absorbs the essences of Predator animals and is able to take on a form that is a cross between that animal and a humanoid. Akin to a Druid Wildshape but not exactly. Instead of replacing his stats, the form uses the mod bonuses the creature had and adds it to his own stats in that form. For example, Crag Cats have a +3 Dex Mod, that means his Dex is increased by +3. Fairly straightforward, encourages him to find bigger and bigger beasties to power up.
However, the question came to him wearing armor and I'm having a bit of a headscratcher about it.
Base Human AC is 10+Dex. However, Beasts by in large use what is known as "Natural Armor". While I thougth this was just a way to take care of questions about applying AC effects to the creature which questions if they are wearin armor at that moment, I also read that there was supposidly a thing called "Natural Armor Modifiers" but now I can't find any details about what that is!
So I'm kind of torn right now. While In Character he is looking forward to wearing armor, I also don't want to end up having the PC waste time chasing something that doesn't really do him any good.
Using the Homebrew Race Creator, go to modifiers and select "Bonus" and then "Natural Armor" (It might not be in bonus but it is somewhere around there). Set natural armor to 12+DEX and while he is wearing armor, give him resistance to piercing and/or slashing. (D&DB doesn't have a 'resistance while wearing armor' though, so just put it on the character sheet and only apply it while they have armor on. A little housekeeping, but it works)
I dont know what level your player is at, but +2 is a good number, and if he is high enough that he has the proficiencies to wear heavy armor, then he will probably kill a strong beast soon where you can reasonably up that stat by going into the character sheet and clicking/tapping on "Custom". It should allow you to change the modifier from there.

AT the very least, he's having fun.

So I should have it as a +2 mod?

Alright, sounds like a plan then! Thanks!
