Like what if over the summer someone hosted a Mortal Kombat style tournament campaign.
Everyone would join a discord with their characters by X date, everyone would build like a level 15 character or something (rules like no multiclassing/no homebrew/etc in place). Line ups would be randomly generated. Maybe 1v1, maybe 2v2.
Everyone would be able to get on and observe if they wanted to while two PCs face off. End of the summer one champion remains.
IDK. Sounds like it could be fun.
EDIT: Playing with rules/structure....
* All officially published material is good. * UA on approval. * Level 15 *Standard array and starting equipment, 3 Potions of Healing and 1 Greater Healing Potion
I think maybe the 'battlefield' will have like 6 chests on the field that can be opened to assistant items at random (2 unlocked, 2 locked DC 15, 2 locked DC 20/25). Items will be stronger/more helpful based on DC. Items acquired during battle are relinquished after round is over.
After each round the winner will take a long rest.
Points will be awarded to the winner of each round as the below, and can be used as gold pieces to buy items for the next round. (Points can be spent or saved to be used later)
Victory: 500 points Nat20: 250 points per
Point Buys
+1 Weapon – 500gp Potion of Healing – 50 points (limit 5) Potion of Greater Healing – 100 gp (limit 5) Potion of Superior Healing – 500 (limit 3) Potion of Supreme Healing – 5,000 points (limit 1)
Should it be a 1v1? Or a 2v2 and its a team of a PC and NPC together? Player would be able to provide/design their own NPC for DM to play as. (Ex. Are you a paladin with a squire? Are you a wizard with an apprentice? NPC level would be 7?)
