Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: New - Veteran Location/Timezone: US Eastern Schedule: Mondays 4:30-7:30pm (Eventually will go later when schedules clear up) and biweekly there will be a session over the weekend, 6-11pm (Will vote on Sat or Sun every other week) Roles sought: Players (Please be able and willing to participate regularly and actively in sessions and throughout the week during text rp. You are not expected to always be rping, but at least try to join in on the fun when others are rping, instead of lurking or never joining in at all!) Game style: During Sessions, there is mainly Combat and Dungeoneering, with some RP. The rest of the week, as people have free time to do so, everyone rp's in Discord channels we have built for it, going on adventures and really acting out and fleshing out their characters. I do my best to dm these roleplaying events as best as possible so that interesting narratives can play out along the week, and I promise you that if you participate, you will find yourself connected to a group of characters, especially yours, in a way you've never been before!
The campaign itself is part homebrew part official content. I have taken the Grimhollow books, as well as some other Homebrew collections, and then stitched together the adventures of Tales of the Yawning Portal and Candlekeep Mysteries, with my own overarching plotline and version of Faerun. This is my Library of Oneshots!
Welcome to the Library, a long lost artifact that fills the space of an entire demiplane. You do not belong here, nor are you capable of leaving, yet. Mysterious forces seem to prevent any form of escape, and the only understanding you can garner of this place comes from its mysterious vampiric caretaker, who calls herself "Sanguina", which you feel is perhaps a bit on the nose.
She reveals to you the secret of escape, and that is power, growth, patience, and when the time comes, brute force. The Library is a living machine, an engine capable of taking written literature and creating a temporary Demiplane where the universe within the book is completely simulated, as perfectly as the machine can manage anyway. So there you are, trapped in a library, with countless stories you could explore, and the means to bring those stories and experiences into reality, quite literally in fact, as Sanguina has implied that any possessions you discover within the engine can be taken out of it. What will you do with this power? How will you act in the various scenarios you will encounter? Just how convoluted have I written this story to be???
There is but one way to find out!
That being said, the players are currently lvl 6 and have completely the story arc of Candlekeep's Book of the Raven, and a few of my homebrewed events. They are currently about half-way through Tales of the Yawning Portal's Forge of Fury.
I also have a system in place, where every 10 levels, the players will be able to create a new secondary character to play, though they will only be able to take one character into a book at a time. The party has currently hit the place where their first set of secondary characters will soon be added (you still have plenty of time to work on yours) eventually via plot once they finish Forge of Fury.
This campaign is set to be a very long one, and I fully intend to get you guys all to lvl 20, and if I can devise a decent enough way to level you beyond that without it being much of a hassle, I will. There is enough content here to get you guys to level 50 to be totally honest, just figuring out a leveling system beyond 20 is currently a WIP.
Games are run via Foundry and I use DnD Beyond to manage characters. Everything else happens in my very intricately configured Discord server. I am more than happy to teach new players how to use anything and everything, and am very rewarding of creativity and thinking outside the box. Ask questions in sessions and rp, and chances are I can probably help some of your ideas come to fruition, within reason of course.
Currently looking for 1-2 players to replace some bad apples that eventually decided to leave/ were removed.
The general house rules are as follows, and while the rules seem overly strict, these are meant to be explicit, as I am otherwise a very forgiving person, and a very inclusive DM when it comes to player enjoyment and ideas. That being said, I will not allow myself to be abused, and I will most certainly not stand for anyone who is routinely harmful to the rest of the group:
1) I the DM, put my time, effort, sanity, and soul into this place and what goes down here. I have the final say in all matters and disputes. I am human, and can make mistakes, but in the end my word is ultimately law, like it or leave it. If I feel I have made a mistake, I will always retcon and try my best to resolve said issues.
2)Your real life problems, while I will always do my best to consider them when I make decisions, have no reason to infect the game world. The in-game problems should not infect real life. Try to keep them mentally separate as best you can for everyone's well being.
3)I will bend, flex, create or throw out rules as I see fit, based on what I feel is best at the time.
4) Know your character. Know what they will do and play it. All that said, remember this is a game, and there is a line, between 'my character would do this', and 'do I as a player of this team want to **** everyone over just because my character would do this thing.' You will be held responsible ultimately for your choices as the player, your character will not.
5) Be clear about what you mean when you speak. I cannot properly address a query that I do not understand.
6) If you cannot act like a mature adult, you will be asked to leave. If you argue with that, you will not be welcome back.
7) Characters aside. Treat all players with respect. You will feel my unforgiving wrath otherwise, and only the understanding mentioned in rule 2 may spare you some mercy at that point, and not for long.
8) If you have issues with something I have said or done, first, remind yourself of rule #1. Second, please ask me about it, clearly and directly. I will listen to what you have to say, and very rarely, if ever, will I turn you down or disregard your query without logically and carefully explaining myself.
9) Please try to keep all conversations at the table about the game. We don't have much time, side tracking is easy, and if it was a conversation everyone wanted to have, it can happen outside of game time.
10) This game is about fun and companionship. If you are not having fun, let me know and if its something I can address without affecting other's enjoyment, I will. Otherwise, do not play and do not ruin it for others. See rule 7 if you need consequences.
All that being said, if you have any questions, or interest, please direct message me on Discord, my tag is: Doc Domergue#1346 and thank you for reading this far!
