Hello, I am Jacob Gambino, I am the Dm and have been one for 3-4 years, I have ran 3 campaigns that have lasted around a year each, I have been playing with a group of friends for this time and would get 1-2 new players every start of a campaign, though they usually leave due to scheduling problems.
This game is looking for players with some experience ,but don't expect crazy quality, we use discord and owlbear, character sheets are google sheets or printed, I have put in a bit of money when it comes to map making for owlbear, just remember that this is a amateur campaign, don't expect critical roll lv's.
A little about myself, I'm into rpg, and turn based strategy, I take a lot of inspiration from games and media such as, darkest dungeon, the hobbit, and my favorite element of dnd is planning out a story narrative for each character. I'm very good with improv but my spelling may be littered with errors (lucky this will be done threw discord vc.) , I have very high self esteem, and I am excited for this campaign, it has been in the works for 4-5 months now, but I don't even have session 1 planed, a good transition to the campaign. Cool transition
Wayland is a survival horror fantasy rpg, but that's not all, based on your characters theme, you will see move genres. At the moment we have the following themes,(maybe, characters sheets have not been made) cyber western mixing western with future elements, Medieval knight vengeance story, and time travel magic. you may be wondering how a campaign can be stable with so much going on, this is simple, there are 4 components of the campaign that I will go over shortly.
but first what is the gameplay loop / game even about, Wayland is a survival horror in the sense that you need to survive a world with no civilization. you start by being thrown into a world unfamiliar (actual story explanation secret for now) in this world there is a Being, this being is the size of a continent that travels the world trying to envelop and Concore, you cant simply travel afoot though, take to the sky's. Airships are a big part of the game, treated like home bases you have to manage a lot, such as the passengers, crew, Npc's that are important/useless, Govern laws and order, and space on the ship. But you cant just live in the sky forever, you need food, water, and most importantly Oil.
Oil is so important its going to be its own paragraph. Oil is what the being is made of, a black rich ink like substances that when lit burns a blue flame for several hours. You will have to explore the ground for it, but you may learn how dangerous a task this will be.
I don't wana spoil too much, but the 4 components are, The being, The mutants, The Pirates, And the Dream.
This campaign may sound interesting but if your new to dnd I don't recommend it, there is a decent amount of homebrew, and there will definitely be dead PC's.
