Welcome to all you assassins, thieves, spies, mercenaries, smugglers, and dealers.
You’re here for clean getaways and dirty money, good times and bad choices. You’re here to run the show from the underbelly up. You’re here because you make your own rules, and “honor among thieves” is the only law you know.
You’re here to *own* Sharn, the last city alive in this apocalyptic version of Eberron where the gates of the afterlife have been broken and the undead haunt the wastelands outside the lightning fences.
Every dragonmarked house and guild wants a cut of Sharn, and it’s time to take yours. Leave nothing but a legacy.
***
This is a criminal campaign in a setting that mixes the Eberron city Sharn with Doskvol, a setting from the game Blades in the Dark. It also includes some guilds from Ravnica to give us more organizations to oppose.
We will use 5e rules with a few mechanics adapted from Blades.
The PCs are the ringleaders of a crew that they have just founded. Think of the crew as a single entity. It acts as one and has a single mood and morale. The PCs are the stars, and the crew is in the background during our street fights and other operations.
Unlike some campaigns, we won’t play out every single moment in your day. Instead, we go where the drama is by thinking in terms of three scenes:
Scene 1: The Plan
We play out a scene of talking about our goals, the allies and enemies we could make, and the targets we want to pursue (like “Steal turf from the Xanathar Guild”). We also pick an initial approach (like “Stealth” or “Deception”).
Scene 2: The Score
We play out the action scene(s) to determine if we succeed or not. We start by narrating where the PCs are exactly and what obstacles they face. If you encounter a particularly challenging obstacle, a character may choose to pay a price to call for a flashback that shows how they prepared for this obstacle. This rule makes the game feel like a heist movie, and it keeps us from spending too long planning in Scene 1. (A flashback grants you a benefit that’s roughly equivalent to the price you paid, so it mIght not solve the whole problem for you. You’ll usually still need to roll dice. Work with the DM privately to negotiate the exact cost and benefit of the flashback.)
Scene 3: Downtime
We have a scene of our characters after the Score as they try to lose Heat and lower their Stress levels by engaging in Vices. We roll some dice to determine how well it all goes, and the PCs try not to overindulge in their Vices. We also enjoy the perks from our last Score if we succeeded. Then we go back to Scene 1 for our next target.

Game: D&D 5e with some house rules
Style: Moderate RP, Moderate Combat, High Politics, meaning that your actions have consequences—guilds will notice when you steal their turf, and you would do well to make alliances.
Schedule: Play-by-Post
Time Zone: I’m on CT, but time zone isn’t very important in a PBP game.
Pace: Each player should ideally post once or twice a day.
Platform: Discord
Starting Level: 3
Party Size: 4-5
Start Date: TBD
The ideal player is age 18+, enjoys writing, and likes to share the spotlight. They are polite and friendly.
If this sounds like the game for you, post below. I’m looking for clear writing and positive vibes.
This seems very interesting to me. I'm used to play by post on servers but never as a campaign so this interests me a lot. Always thought it was fun to play the bad guy anyway and this setting seems like a very fun way of doing it. Discord name is DoubleTrouble#4616
Very experienced with 5e and have been looking specifically for a blades game so a combo of the two def sounds interesting! All of this sounds right for me and I'd love to talk more about the game! Discord is MA0NST0NE#3993 (those are zeroes instead of o's)
